Futures rise on firm spot demand

Gold futures climbed Rs136 to Rs63,339 per 10 grams as speculators created fresh positions on firm spot demand. Silver futures fell by Rs85 to Rs74,345 per kilogram as participants reduced their bets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs136 or 0.22 per cent at Rs63,339 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 15,152 lots. Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said. Globally, gold futures fell 0.56 per cent to $2,071.80 per ounce in New York.
On MCX, silver contracts for March delivery declined by Rs85 or 0.11 per cent to Rs74,345 per kg in a business turnover of 14,762 lots. Globally, silver was trading 1.17 per cent lower at $24.09 per ounce in New York.
